In 2009, Hof reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in two days, wearing nothing but a pair of shorts; later in the same year, he ran a full marathon above the polar circle in Finland, in temperatures of around -20°C – again, wearing only shorts; and in 2011, he broke his previous Guinness World Record for ice endurance twice, by staying immersed in ice for just under two hours.
