Here’s to Mirabai

By on October 5, 2014

Here’s to Mirabai. Mirabai was an Indian Princess in the Sixteenth Century. In spite of the opportunity to life a life of pleasure in the palace, Mirabai chose to devote her life to Krishna, writing poetry and songs in his honor and practicing devotional yoga. Her devotion to Krishna and the admiration for her held by the people so enraged her husband’s family that after her husband’s death they plotted unsuccessfully to kill her. It is said that Mirabai neer died, rather Krishna appeared to her in the temple and her soul melted into his. Or in the words of Steve Jobs…

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes.

The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them.

But the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire.

Here’s to Mirabai, who showed us how to be a true devotee of the divine.
